When it comes to finding the right fit for your family’s childcare needs, one size rarely fits all. It can feel impossible to find options beyond rigid daycare schedules and unreliable babysitters that are both affordable and flexible. The good news is, there are non-traditional childcare options available that can help fill the gaps you have in your childcare needs.
Here are a few non-traditional childcare options to consider:
- Childcare Co-Ops: Co-ops have been growing in popularity since the pandemic. These small groups of families pool their resources to share the cost of a professional childcare provider for their children. Co-ops can combine children of different ages and operate on flexible schedules that align with the families’ needs, but it can be difficult to fill all of your childcare gaps with co-ops alone, especially if your schedule varies from other families’.
- Parent’s Day Out Programs: Formally known as Mother’s Day Out, these programs are often offered through local religious centers and community initiatives. They can be an affordable preschool option, but they usually have restricted hours and only cater to preschool-aged children.
- Drop-In Childcare Play Centers: Our hourly, drop-in childcare model at KidSpot frees parents up to get the care they need, when they need it. We are open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and do not require reservations. We seek to fill the gaps in childcare options by providing quality and affordable care on an as-needed basis for all ages between six months and 12 years. We want your children to see us as a fun and comfortable home away from home so you have peace of mind that we’ve got you covered, whether you are working a split shift, want a date night, or just need a few hours to yourself.
